Alex Humber
Alex Humber is a seasoned sales enablement and performance leader with more than three decades of experience improving the effectiveness of global sales, sales engineering, and leadership teams across technology-driven organizations.
The roots of Alex’s passion for classroom instruction can be traced back to his time as a graduate student in the Speech Communication Department at San Diego State University. It was there he led four introductory public speaking courses as an instructor, while directing much of his research and writing time to the topic of communication apprehension.
Having held positions including Director, Global Sales Enablement, Director, Learning & Development, Senior Worldwide Sales Education Manager, Global Sales Readiness and Training Strategy Specialist, Sales Training Manager, and Sales Enablement Program Manager, Alex has spent the bulk of his 30+ year career focused on improving the performance of global sales teams as an internal leader and enablement specialist for companies such as Hewlett-Packard, HPE, Symantec, Nortel Networks, RSA Security, Recorded Future, Omnicell and Great Western Bank.
After relocating to the Bay Area in 1993, Alex secured a position as a regional trainer with Great Western Bank and later with Hewlett-Packard. These positions allowed for the honing of his delivery skills and knowledge development across a wide range of topic areas, including onboarding, leadership/management development, product and technical skills, process improvement, as well as sales. While at HP, Alex co-hosted the broadcast of a multi-hour training forum for HP’s global enablement teams.
In 1999 Alex relocated to New Hampshire after he was recruited by Nortel Networks to lead their bi-coastal Enterprise Sales onboarding program, Vision-In-Action. It was here that Alex first became a certified JBK instructor, integrating the Selling Beyond the Product course into Nortel’s multi-week program. Upon moving to RSA Security as their Senior Worldwide Sales Education Manager, Alex partnered closely with JBK to drive the adoption of SBP as well as other strategic sales methodology to the more than 400 members of the Global Sales Team, standardizing both sales process and language across all three business units. While at RSA, and later at Symantec, Alex led the industry certification program targeted at their Global Sales Engineering teams. Partnering with Security icon, Shon Harris, he launched a multi-day CISSP boot camp preparation and exam course, which saw first-try passing rates of more than 90%, and led the certification of more than 200 people, including Alex. Later iterations expanded to include Certified Ethical Hacker and other coveted technical industry certifications.
In 2008, while at Omincell, Alex decided it was time to put down his Sales Enablement hat and pick up a Systems Sales Director bag in an effort to “sharpen” his saw. Selling into the challenging headwinds of the healthcare space in the early days of the Affordable Care Act, Alex was able to double the number of clients in his territory in two years, including a multi-million dollar win at one of the largest hospitals in upstate New York.
After returning to Sales Enablement with Symantec and later HPE, Alex held various roles, eventually becoming the Director of Sales Enablement at Emprix in 2018. After Emprix’s acquisition by Infovista in 2022, he held the titles of Director for both Learning & Development as well as Global Sales Enablement. It was in that role that he developed and implemented the companies virtual Next Generation Leadership program for more than 80 staff members across all global business units in partnership with LinkedIn Learning. More recently, Alex held the Director of Sales Enablement title at Recorded Future, where he led the successful launch of the companies pitch certification program as well as the relaunch of the core sales methodology program.
2025 saw Alex and his wife, Marguerite, relocate to her home state of Kentucky, the launch of his own consulting company and his return to classroom facilitation. Together, Alex and Marguerite share seven grown children. When not conducting session workshops or working on their new home, you’ll likely find Alex at the softball field, traveling, or engaged in ministry work at his church.
